In the ranking of dental treatments practiced most by Colombians, resins are number one.
This was determined by a study conducted by the Network of Dental Solution Centers DentiSalud, which evaluated the treatments carried out by the country’s dental professionals in different specialties so far this year.
According to the latest National Oral Health Study (ESAB for the acronym in Spanish), the most prevalent disease of this type in Colombia is tooth decay. At the global level, between 60% and 90% of school-age children have cavities, and the percentage increases in adulthood. Brushing your teeth frequently and correctly is essential to preventing this disease and its consequent treatment.
This was asserted by Dentisalud dentist and innovation leader, Rafael Quintero, when he said that “although the oral health care trend has become stronger, we have to continue working to raise people’s awareness of the benefits of oral health care for health in general”.
The following are some basic tips to prevent or control the appearance of cavities starting at an early age:
– Brush your teeth at least three times a day in short, smooth and circular motions, including the gums.
– Using dental floss every day, ideally in the evenings, is critical to preventing caries and decreasing the accumulation of bacterial plaque.
– Visit a specialist at least once a year for a thorough cleaning and to diagnose the disease in time.
– Use toothpaste with fluoride, provided the person is not intolerant to this component.
