Family support and regular pediatric care visits are very important for improving the lives of children that suffer from this disease.

Assertive and sincere communication

Speaking honestly and using language that can adapt to their age will help them understand and deal with their diagnosis. Explain the most common myths that arise among children on what causes cancer and show how they are not true; help them to understand and accept the disease. This will bring them peace of mind.

5% of the cases of cancer in children are caused by a genetic mutation that can be passed from parent to child.

The most common

Leukemia is the most common type of cancer among children. Brain cancer, however, is the leading cause of deaths among children with this condition. Other malignant tumors that affect them are lymphomas. Regular visits with your pediatrician can help to detect its symptoms.

1% of all diagnosed cases of cancer are pediatric patients.

Keep in mind

  • Early detection, medical treatment and family support are all key factors of beating most childhood cancers.
  • Children are sensitive to physical change. Give them time to prepare for weight and hair loss.
  • Different types of treatment and support are needed for different age groups. Parents are the ones who make treatment decisions.
