Those who suffer from this condition experience an uncomfortable, but not painful, sensation in the legs, causing them to move. One out of every 12 people in the world suffer from this condition, making it a very uncommon one.
It often occurs when people are resting and gets worse at night, interrupting sleep and causing fatigue and irritability.
Doing moderate exercise including stretching in the morning and at night, as well as following relaxation and muscle compression routines such as yoga or tai chi can help fight some of its symptoms.
The Department of Health in the United Kingdom explains that even going out to take walks can help mitigate its discomfort. It cautions, however, that if exercise does not completely eliminate its symptoms, it is important to visit a doctor to learn what treatment should ensue.
