Chronic stress can lead to the onset of disease. It is important for people to know what type of habits cuase it.

In a report from the General Board of Psychology in Spain, stress is a process that occurs when a situation is perceived as threatening or as an overwhelming burden on one’s resources. This directly affects a person’s health, paving the way for the onset of disease or lowering the chances of healthy habits to be practiced.

According to the study, this state of mind reduces the body’s immune response and reduces its resistance to disease. People who undergo high levels of stress therefore experience a greater number of infectious diseases as well as gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular problems, some types of cancer, allergies, tumors, irritated skin and rheumatoid arthritis can progress faster.

Some healthy habits that can help reduce stress.

1.Do not use a cell phone before going to sleep. Using one can have a negative effect on the brain as it needs darkness to produce the hormones required for falling asleep.

Tip: If you wake up at night, try not to turn on strong lights. Use a lamp that does not emit much light to suppress the production of melatonin.

2.Take vitamins. These types of supplements are useful if you have a deficiency. Consult with your physician to determine what your dosage should be.

Tip: Make the choice to follow a diet that includes plenty of vegetables, fruits and fish. This will help ensure you are getting the right amount of vitamins.

3.Have just one serving of alcohol a day. Scientists from Heidelberg University in Germany affirm that alcohol increases estrogen levels.

Tip: While wine and beer do have antioxidants in them, you should not have more than four drinks a week.
