In addition to being delicious, smoothies can be nutritious if made with fruit. This is one idea for adding fruit to one’s diet, and it is a more appealing way to offer fruit to children. The Mayo Clinic shares a few recipes that are easy to prepare at home.

Fresh fruit smoothie:

Ingredients

– 1 cup        Pineapple chunks

– ½ cup      Cantaloupe chunks

– 1 cup          Strawberries

– 1 cup          Cold water

– 1 tbsp      Honey

– Juice from 2 oranges

Instructions

Peel the pineapple and melon, take the stems off the strawberries, and cut into chunks. Blend all ingredients, serve cold.

Strawberry banana milkshake:

Ingredients

– 6     Frozen strawberries, chopped

– 1        Banana

– ½ cup        Soy milk

– 1 cup         Fat-free yogurt, frozen

Instructions

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve. Optional: Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries
