Fillings help restore the shape, function and aesthetic aspects of teeth that have been damaged or have cavities. When a dental professional performs a filling, the patient must take special care of this both on a long and short-term basis.

The Mexican Dental Association provides a few recommendations on how to care for them:

  • Avoid drinking, eating or smoking after the procedure. It is ok to return to your regular eating habits after a few a few hours.
  • See your dentist regularly to get your teeth checked. For example, cavities do not show visible symptoms when they first form and in order to diagnose them, they must be checked by specialists (Related article: Foods that are good for your child’s teeth
  • Be sure to practice a complete oral hygiene regime. This is the best way to prevent your teeth from deteriorating and prevent the appearance of other conditions (Related article: Prevent yellow teeth
  • In general, tooth restorations with fillings are fast, simple and painless procedures, but caring for them depends on the patient.
