All emotions have a purpose in life. Hiding them affects your ability to survive and can cause health problems.
According to the Colombian-based foundation Unidos contra la Depresión, fighting your feelings can often lead to health conditions in the body, especially in organs such as the intestines, stomach, liver or skin.
This occurs because your mood has a direct effect on your physical state, as certain emotions not only cause emotional problems, they can also activate your autonomic nervous system and your endocrine system.
Identify your emotions
This foundation emphasizes that to express emotions such as sadness, anxiety and melancholy, you must be aware of your state of mind. It is therefore essential to acknowledge your emotions and not repress them, as well as find solutions so that you can move on. Talking is important
What are you worried about? Reflect about what is bothering you; this is an important part of not denying what you feel and is fundamental to being able to tell another person. The following are some useful tips that will help you let go of and express what you feel.
- Think about what you want to say. Once you understand how you feel, it will be much easier to explain it. Maybe you do not want to share everything, but it is important that you analyze what part of your feelings you want to convey.
- How do you want to explain it? This will make it much easier to structure what you want to say; you can develop the idea in your mind or write it on paper.
- Talk to an expert. A psychologist, psychoanalyst or psychiatrist is a fundamental part of this process, but initially you can start by chatting with a friend or family member.
