Getting the proper treatment for muscle pain always depends on what caused it.

Muscle pain, also referred to as myalgia, is often found in the shoulders, neck and back. For people that spend a lot of time driving or sitting in front of a computer, it is common for these muscles to be overworked and pain-ridden (myogelosis). According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, pain can also be a symptom of different infectious diseases. In rare cases, some diseases can cause sharp and shooting pains that affect the muscle, the skeleton or the nervous system. Also, some emotionally overwhelming situations or excessive stress can also cause it.

A healthy lifestyle based on exercise, relaxation and a balanced diet are practical ways to help prevent any type of condition. If the discomfort continues, however, the recommendation is to see a physician, and depending on the case, a physical therapist as well.

Be sure to get good sleep and try to lower your stress levels. Yoga and meditation are excellent ways to help you sleep and relax.
